At a ceremony in London last week, Condé Nast Traveller named Anassa’s Thalassa Spa the Best Overseas Hotel Spa for 2018. Spa manager Ingrid Price was on hand to receive the award. The recognition is part of the magazine’s annual Reader’s Travel Awards, which are based on a survey of reader satisfaction across twenty-five categories in the luxury travel field. Indeed, the satisfaction score for Thalassa Spa is so high that it ranks number 15 in the World’s Top 100—an aggregation of the top scorers from all twenty-five categories. Thalassa Spa features a Roman-style indoor pool that offers a sky-lit respite from the sun. Other facilities include saunas, steam baths, a gym, a saltwater exercise pool, a yoga room, and a squash court. Eighteen treatment rooms play host to a variety of therapeutic practices. Thalassa means ‘sea’ in Greek, and this name highlights the spa’s focus on harnessing the restorative benefits of the maritime climate, seawater, and marine derivatives. The crystal-clear seawater of Chrysochous Bay is pumped directly from the sea to the spa, where its soothing qualities can be tapped in our jetted exercise pool, jetted tub, jetted shower, and mist affusion shower. Using the Osea line of organic skincare products, our therapists offer scrubs, wraps, and facials using elements from the marine environment—algae, salt, seaweed, mud, and coconut oil. The entire list of the 2018 Readers’ Travel Awards appears in the October issue of Condé Nast Traveller.
